The Tampa Bay Clays is a youth, clay target shooting team competing in multiple shotgun sport disciplines such as American Trap, International Trap, Sporting Clays and Skeet. The age of our young athletes ranges from 10 years old up through collegiate age . The youth are trained in shotgun safety and the proper clay sports shooting technique by volunteer, certified coaches. Over the years our young shooters have achieved great accomplishments and continue to strive for excellence in everything they do - on and off the trap line.
American Trap Schedule
**Tampa Bay Sporting Clays**-
An American trap field consists of a single machine 16 yards in front of the line. The trap machine oscillates on a 45 degree arc, 22.5 degrees either side of center. The targets are thrown 10 feet high at a distance of 10 yards beyond the trap house, and travel approximately 50 yards. Typical competitions include 16 yard singles, doubles, and handicap - which includes shooting from a distance of up to 27 yards for the most advanced shooter.

TAMPA BAY CLAYS - WHERE CHAMPIONS ARE MADE!
Also known as Olympic Trap or Bunker, the International Trap game consists of a ground level, 60 foot long trench that houses 15 trap machines - three in front of each of five shooting positions. These machines do not oscillate, but are preset for angles up to 45 degrees left and right and heights at 10 meters in front of the trench, varying from 1.5 meters to 3.5 meters. All targets travel to 76 meters and are offered at different speeds increasing difficulty.
